Grotrian-Steinweg
BECAUSE WE LOVE MUSIC. "Lads, build good pianos and the rest will take care of itself", Wilhelm Grotrian once said to his sons Kurt and Willi and thereby phrased one of the most important mottos for the GROTRIAN company. When you listen to the sound of a GROTRIAN you will notice that there is much more behind it: a love for music.
If you sit down at the Sol-165, your living room will turn into a concert hall from the very first note. The strings are under roughly 18 tons of tension. And thanks to the perfectly engineered action, even the gentlest touch will articulate a clear tone with surprising volume.
No expense was spared on the G-192. And you can see it, and hear it. At 192 cm in length, the G-192 is a true chamber-concert instrument with finely nuanced tonal qualities. Perfect for academy teaching or for the demanding musician at home.
The G-208 has a sound with such an impressive dynamic spectrum and such balanced transparency that it becomes a source of inspiration for the pianist. This grand piano's quality is the result of the latest insights from our Braunschweig production facility, built on over 170 years of experience and mastery in piano and grand piano building.
The gentlest pianissimo and the most powerful fortissimo. Every facet of the dynamic spectrum can be perfectly expressed by the G-225. Its sound fills medium-size halls and conservatories, opera houses and grand ballrooms. Its sound fills medium-size halls and conservatories, opera houses and grand ballrooms. The G-225 is the result of centuries of experience, intensive research and close collaboration with music teachers, pianists and acoustics experts.
The G-277 has all the richness and brilliance of a full orchestra. It is rightly regarded as one of the finest grand pianos in the world. Its tone, playing action and construction meet the highest standards of quality, refinement and perfection.
Grotrian-Steinweg grand and upright pianos
The company, based in Braunschweig, Germany, was founded by Friedrich Grotrian in 1835. It has remained family-run ever since and is now in its fifth and sixth generations. The pianos made by Grotrian are excellent instruments, from the smallest upright to the concert grand, and always manage to satisfy even the most demanding pianists, thanks to the constructive care the company takes pride in. Grotrian is one of the very few brands belonging to "Made in Germany" by BVK e.V., the association of German piano manufacturers, together with Steingraeber, Blüthner, August Förster, Rönisch, Sauter and Schimmel. Membership of this association is a true mark of guarantee, as only the finest German craftsmen manage to join, given the extremely strict conditions of membership.
Grotrian, for example, was the first piano manufacturer to build an instrument with a cast-iron frame connected only to the rear wooden frame, which allows the internal system to vibrate freely and produces the characteristic Grotrian sound; this technique is still used in modern upright pianos. Another example is the carefully balanced, homogeneous soundboard, together with a calculation of string length and positioning that allows the hammer to strike each string at the optimum point. These and other refinements have made this brand one of the best known and most highly regarded of all time.
