This model features marquetry, "an age-old stylistic technique that lends a touch of sophistication" to the design. Unlike inlay work, marquetry involves composing a complete pattern from small veneer tiles, chosen for their colour and wood grain, often using exotic species. Schimmel craftsmen create one-of-a-kind pieces in myrtle burl wood with striking visual effects.
The Classic design concept was created in the 1930s by Arno Wilhelm Schimmel, intended to offer "the sound volume of large-scale instruments but with a much more graceful appearance". This revolutionary design, patented several times, made Schimmel Germany's leading piano manufacturer.
Environmental protection and sustainability have been part of Schimmel's corporate philosophy since its founding in 1885.
